Repairs required
I'm fortunate that the structural work needed was minimal. The very ends of the roof boards were a bit rotten and I was advised that they needed to be replaced by going back to the nearest roof rib. The 2 holes in the OS roof near the front area, that had been made (probably at different times) for the stove's chimney pipe to pop through, one of these holes will be completely repaired using some of the original roof board ends (taken off, that are still ok). The other hole will be blocked up temporarily so can be easily re-opened at a later date if required. I found some rot under the gutter just above the NS window area which has been replaced. The porch brackets' end halves have been fixed back on and the NS porch bracket has been re-attached to the body as there was a gap. The flatboard, NS bottom corner just above the sill was rotten and has been replaced. There may be at least 1 corner carving that will need re-carving due to rot, there are a few that need gluing and filling. The only thing that is waiting now on the body for structural work, is the front crownboard to be fitted onto its framework above the door entrance, which will be done further down the line. UPDATE: Horrors discovered on removal of front weatherboard - a rotten corner which looks like a wooden cauliflower, will need rebuilding on the O/S and 2 parts of the front roof rib that the weatherboard attaches to are rotten so will have to be replaced.
